Everybody who knows something about college basketball knows that any team can fall during the season, whether it would be to a higher ranked team, or to a team that is not ranked at all. More often than not, the lower teams actually beat a ranked team, but somehow fall to a team that is nowhere in the Top-25 picture.
Anybody filling out their brackets last year, remembers Oral Roberts' chances of even getting out of the first round (they were playing Memphis). Well, Oral Roberts upsets Kansas. Wait, that is not all. How many people knew that North Dakota State was even in Division 1-A basketball? Well, sure enough, they upset Marquette. Just when everybody thought both could possibly be better than expected, Roberts loses to Akron and Tulsa. As for North Dakota State...losses to Kansas State and Colorado State.
There is now a new upset-er in the picture. Drexel first beat Villanova. Fluke, right? Possibly, but then you would be saying that the Dragons beating Syracuse was a fluke as well. That is right, Drexel stole a road win at the Carrier Dome by a score of 84-79. The last time Drexel beat a ranked team was back in the 1996 tournament against Memphis.
So, what does everybody think? Could Drexel possibly make the final four and pull of the upsets that would remind us of George Mason? Or will they fall to teams like James Madison and Delaware, who both have horrible records (2-7, 0-8 respectively) So will Drexel cause a stir-up in the Top-25, or will order soon be restored so everybody can get back to wondering who will cause the next upset, and who will be the victim. Guess the only way to find out is to watch and see, and possibly hope, because everybody loves a Cinderella story.
