How Do I Increase Running Speed - 3 Easy Steps to Decrease Your 40 Time
Step one is stretching. I know you?re probably thinking this is a waste of your time but I?m not talking about Pilates, Yoga, or any slow-and-hold type of stretching. I?m actually referring to plyometrics. This is a form of dynamic stretching. Any form of quickness, from a power step to a full sprint, is a form of power. So to increase your running speed you need to increase your power. Power = force x velocity. So strong rapid movements will help you increase your power. Stretches like; high knees, butt kicks, side steps, back peddling and many more. Most of your athletic teams go through these, not to the level they should, but coaches should know them. You can also find them in any Bigger, Faster, Stronger programs or in magazines.
Step two is small but makes a huge difference. Your running speed is a factor of your running form. The majority of clients I?ve seen that want an increase in their running speed don?t have great form. So with a couple of simple adjustments they already see a vast improvement. You need to learn your bodies proper form to maximize your speed. Sprinting should not be a struggle or a fight. It should feel natural and smooth, nothing should hurt. If you?re experiencing any of these issues then you are not running properly. Walking, jogging and even sprinting should be the same basic form. If you are drastically changing your form and not just your speed from jogging to sprinting then you?re not running properly. Learning the correct techniques will also increase your stamina because you?re not fighting your body to move faster. You can learn the correct techniques from a running program, which brings me to step three.
Step Three is investing in a legitimate speed program. You should find a regiment that?s specifically designed to increase running speed and follow it to a tee. People will give you forms of advice but unless you are utilizing, these three things you?re not going to maximize your quickness potential. A program will give you exact steps to follow and exercises to replicate, so you can measure your results and find what works best. Without a program to follow you may be setting yourself up for failure!
Remember you must use dynamic stretching to increase your power, learn the correct techniques to maximize your form and endurance, and find a program to follow that will give you the exact formula for success!
